Sorry I was cooking OH's meal.

I can track her backwards as follows:

She married George Frost and appears as follows:

1851 England Census about Mercy Frost Name: Mercy Frost
Age: 24
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1827
Relation: Daughter-in-Law
Spouse's Name: George Frost
Gender: F (Female)
Where born: Yalding, Kent, England

Civil parish: Loose
County/Island: Kent

Registration district: Maidstone
Sub-registration district: Yalding
ED, institution, or vessel: 4c
Neighbors: View others on page
Household schedule number: 98
Piece: 1616
Folio: 480
Page Number: 31
Household Members: Name Age
William Frost 66
Mary Frost 63
George Frost 22
Mercy Frost 24
William Frost 13

She is easily traceable through to her death in Southwark 1903 on all census records.

She's a direct line via her son William b 1854, his son Albert Edward (biological grandpa).

Thanks

Sue

How did you get to her in the first place? If via a marriage I suppose the obvious thing is to get a cert to ascertain her father's name.

In 1851 she is a servant in Ramsgate

The 1841 record could say Mercy or Mary

Mercy can be found on 1841, living away from home as a 14 year old servant so that doesn't help with parents.

Class: HO107; Piece 464; Book: 9; Civil Parish: Yalding; County: Kent; Enumeration District: 6; Folio: 17; Page: 2; Line: 12; GSU roll: 306859.

I have been looking for her birth and the only record which strikes me as likely is the following:

Name: Mary Gilbert
Gender: Female
Birth Date: abt 1827
Christening Date: 21 Feb 1827
Christening Place: Yalding, Kent, England
Father's name: Peter Gilbert
Mother's name: Jane

Source Citation: Place: Yalding, Kent, England; Date Range: 1813 - 1880; Film Number: 1469801.

I cannot see the original document which others may be able to find. My only hope is that Mercy was mistranscribed as Mary.

If anyone could locate her birth or help me with the record I found I'd be very grateful.

Thanks

Sue
