Hi
Could someone please look up James Broyd b 1860 in Gosport, Essex and Mary ann Broyd b 1861 in Newington. Their 2 sons were William Edmund b 1899 in Abinger Hammer, Dorking, sy and Spencer b 1901 in Abinger Hammer.
In 1901 they were at Abinger Hammer with oldest son William . How many children were there within the marriage at the time of the 1911 census?
Another request is for a bit of detective work - I had a message from someone who is researching the Broyd family and she came across (dont know where or how ) a child who drowned and whose mother then committed suicide. She thought that her name was Maria Broyd b 1846 but she died in 1926 age 90.! I have heard nothing of this in my family or even a Maria Broyd but wonder if anyone could find out more for me - Its got me curious and I have no members oF my Broyd family now to ask. Maybe old newspaper archives would hold the answer. Sorry no more info but I would love to find out more
Thanks - grateful as usual

The message I received was from a lady who is researching the Broyd family for her nieces uni project and she came across a lady whose child had drowned and then she committed suicide - she thought the lady in question was Maria Broyd b 1846 but as she said she found a Maria Broyd who died age 90 in 1926. I think she was asking if I knew of any such events in my family of Broyds or if there were maybe 2 Marias - I dont know but I thought I would put my feelers out. Thats all I know - I dont know where she got the info from - will check
Sorry to be so vague but you never know!
ps just sent message asking where and how she found the info on the drowning and suicide

Well I cna't find a death for Elizabeth or anything else for her. I can't find Maria on the 1901 census under the name of Keet/Keats or even Francis. I think the surname could have been Skeet on the 1891 census but can't find anything there either.
OH getting cross with me being onpooter so long so must get on with something else. Sorry.

Wow, you've been busy while I've been getting wet - thanks for all your info . I will have a good look at it all.
They are all in the right area for the Broyds of that time - I think it was only my gt uncle James Broyd who moved away to Abinger Hammer, Dorking where the family then remained until the deaths of Spencer and William in the 1980's. I'm sure there are grandchildren further afield - one is in America I know.
I know how easy it is to spend hours looking things up but you are your own FGM so just wave that magic wand!!
Thanks alot for that x
