Thanks Jan, thought as much! I might go and check the address as I am in the area next week on the off chance.

Thanks,
Ebony.

Electoral registers are normally searchable by address only, I am only aware of the Birmingham area having some records searchable by name, though there might be others. Registers are kept at the nearest main library.

Hi,
The address given is the house where my mother was born (14 girdlers road, london w14), It was a friends house and there does not seem to be any official link other than this.

How do I search electoral rolls?

The witnesses were are Martin j McCann and Mary M McCarthy again pretty common names.

thanks

Do you have any addresses for her? Might be worth a look to see if any other family members can be found on the electoral register. (Voting age only obviously!).

And what about witnesses to her marriage, might these offer any clues?

Very difficult - Actually impossible, as you have provided no names or dates for us to help you search

I would love to be able to trace my maternal grandmothers family but the only information I have is from her marriage cert and my mothers birth cert, and unfortunately she has an extremely common Irish name and her place of birth is only given as Ireland.
I am going to the church where she was married and my mother baptised in the hope of finding more information next week, but I don't hold out much hope.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
