My Gt- Uncle Sidney Terry was born in Bethnal Green in 1903, moved to Manchester then into the Merchant Navy where he served until 1919.

I then lose him - family legend has it that he worked his passage to USA
but nothing was ever heard from him again

( He sometimes lied about his birth - giving it as 1901 to get into the Navy.

He had no middle name )

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
