If you go to the census eg, 1901 and in the drop down box for County or island clickon royal navy, you should be able to find your rellies,

all Royal navy ship's took part no matter where they where (at sea or in port)

There are quite a few records with
"Royal Navy at Sea and in ports abroad" within the census records.
If you cannot find them in the census records, have a look at

http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/news/stories/78.htm

it might help.

Or put the information you have (names, dates and places) on here someone might be able to find your ancestors for you. :-)

Hi,
I have many members of one branch of my tree whom I know were Sailors with the RN.

Most of these members cannot be found on many of the census documents so I'm thinking that maybe they were at sea - does anybody know where best to look for that info?

Thanks :-)
