Dear heaven the gaslight has not done damage at all.

Just to save on time and money,Gins-get all your ducks in a row and go for them. Unless you're splashing on a monthly deal.

I love you both, Hope I didn't seem harsh.

"20 Conklin"

Gee

Gee Report 25 Jun 2011 09:26

Im going to sub for a one day access Mo but not until I am at work as the printers there are much better than my home one!

I found Edith but not Tom? Searched 20 Conklin Street but no Tom

Gee

Gee Report 25 Jun 2011 09:07

Oooo....thank you thank you thank for taking a look all x

I think the record where Edith is outbound in 1923 has the wrong name for her friend John Ashlin and this should indeed be Tom Ashton! I spent about three days chasing John Ashlin grrrrr

Mo thanks for the site link, never heard of that one.... :-D

Going for a little hunt

Gins,

Have you looked at:
The Springfield Republican > Historical Archive

http://nl.newsbank.com/nl-search/we/Archives/?p_product=HA-SUNB&p_theme=histpaper&p_nbid=&p_action=keyword&f_editSearch=yes&p_queryname=2

One of those pay sites.I'm afraid, but you can search for free.

Try searching for "20 Conklin" as well. It seemed to bring up the death and funeral notice for Tom in November 1960.

Best,
Mo

Edit: Got this one by searching for "Edith Crossley".
May 18,1963
The funeral of Mrs. Edith (Crossley) Ashton of 91 Denver.......

Curious! On the Ellis Island site she says she's going to join friend Mr. John Ashlin, 29 Winchester St., Springfield, Mass.

Jonesey Report 24 Jun 2011 20:08

Gin,

I did take a look at your Tom Ashton post earlier but I came up with nothing I'm afraid.

I checked the usual, SSI index, Massachusetts marriages, Naturalization (I know that you like US spellings) records, US obits, World War 11 Draft Cards ect.

I checked the US 1930 census just out of curiosity to see if there were any clues. Under age at first marriage, Tom has recorded 16. Edith has recorded 38 which if true would mean marriage c1923, the year that she immigrated into the US.

Gee

Gee Report 24 Jun 2011 18:37

Sorry, I have his dull DOB 29/12/1874

Gee

Gee Report 24 Jun 2011 17:30

I have found everything about Tom except his marriage to Edith Crossley (b1885 Huddersfield) and his death

They either married in Springfield Mass USA or lived together as man and wife, I have them on the 1930 US census.

I also cannot find the death of Edith, she was single when she went to the US in 1923

They were both still alive and kicking in 1951 and living in Springfield US, I have them on shipping records.

A new pair of eyes might just help...please

Thank you :-)
