Born on 30 April 1873, Blanche is missing from the 1881 census although her widowed mother Mary Anne and sister Louisa are living in Chorlton upon Medlock, Manchester.
Blanche is listed as a patient in Salford Lock Hospital on 1891 census, and by the 1901 she is married to Peter Noon (an athlete exhibition with the fair) in Durham. They are recorded with the surname Makin which may have been a professional name.
By 1911 they are living in a van in Sutton-in-Ashfield, still known under the surname of Makin.
Can anyone throw any light as to where she may have been in 1881 and why I cannot find her. :-S

Hi Lynne

She could just have missed the 81 census...I know Im not on the 2001!

Can't understand why an eight year old is missing. Why is she not with her mother. She's not old enough for work so must be with adults somewhere.

If she is also a patient in 1881, then she could be very inaccurately named, or just with initials.

The same reason a thirty 36 year old and her husband and their children can be missed off a census...!

Edit for Patchem What is thiry?
