Please can someone with worldwide membership help me find the birth and maybe Canadian census records for Edward John Matthew Lee and family.

Edward John Matthew Lee b 1906 in Canada - from other info I have - in Ontario. His father was George William Lee born in 1876 in Canning Town, Essex, England. His mother was possibly Elizabeth also from London and they emigrated to Canada sometime after the birth of their first child George in London in1901. I dont know for sure that Edwards mother was Elizabeth but on the1901 census for the uk she is with a George William and son George.

In 1911 Edward J M is 5 years old and living with grandparents Matthew and Annie Lee in Rathbone Street, Canning Town, Essex - a canadian citizen. From information from a family member it seems that after the death of his wife Elizabeth, George brought the children to the uk to be looked after by family members before returning to Canada. He then married a Canadian woman Elizabeth Susan Tompkins in Ontario.

There is a birth for a Edward John Matthew Lee in the Wellington, Ontario birth records but I do not have access to view it. I would be interested to know if there were any other children born to George in Canada. I'm not 100% sure if Edwards mother is Elizabeth.

I would be very glad of any new info on Edward and siblings in Canada and possibly any trace of the childrens movements after they were brought to England. Maybe there is a death record for George William in Canada as well - anything would be great. Sorry if it sounds a bit confusing !!

Excuse my ignorance but is Lily the mothers name as in Lily Davies ?

Familysearch has
"parents: George Lee Lily, Davies", so I assumed father was George Lee and mother was Lily Davies. I think the comma is in the wrong place. You can view it for free on Familysearch.org

Also found a death for Lilian Lee 1908, which could be the right one.

Is the death for Lily in Canada - the date fits in with Edwards mother dying before 1911.

Is there a marriage for George William in Canada other than the one in 1911 to Elizabeth Susan Tompkins which I have the details of ?- as I said I am not sure when he went to Canada or if his first wife was British - just clutching at straws at this stage.

Yes his birth date fits in with the one in the 1901 census for George William Lee and wife Elizabeth and young George at 1 year old.

Can you find any arrivals and departures between the uk and Canada for George and other family members at any time?

Would you think that Elizabeth and Lilian Davies are the same person because everything fits but with conflicting first names - sons, husband, date and country of childrens births - all fits BUT !!
