Finding a Burial/Cremation UPDATE

Doing a friend's tree has uncovered a birth and death 16 hours later of a baby in 1954. The mother of the baby is still alive, but was very ill at the time of the childs birth and death. Her husband, now deceased, dealt with everything involved and it was never spoken about. She now, however, feels she would like to know if the baby was buried or cremated.
What is the best way of finding out.
Many thanks
Julia

The death certificate would be a good place to start, as it would give you where the child died ( how very sad) there would be some sort of an address and you could go from there.

Hi Vera and Ellen

Many thanks, I thought that would be the case.

Sorry for delay in replying, lost internet for a while.

I have rung around the cemeteries in Bristol (location of birth/death) and have discovered where he is buried!!!
The staff I have spoken to have been extremely helpful and in fact the cemetery he is buried in waived the search fee, which I thought was brilliant.
He is in a communal grave, which I actually expected, and I am now waiting for an email confirming the exact location.

Oh, how nice of them Julia - I do hope that knowing where his 'resting place' is brings his mum some comfort.

Well done for doing this for her!

Julia,
That is great that you found where he is buried. Hopefully it will bring a certain amount of peace to his Mum.
