Hi there,

My relation Mary J Hogg was born in 1858 in Newby Wiske, North Yorkshire. Her parents were Thomas Hogg and Ann Grey.

I can't find her in 1881 and I suspect she may have married but I don't know.

Can anyone help spot her in the census after 1871 (when she is with her parents)?

Thanks,

Peter

How do you know that she has not died?

Have you searched for a possible marriage for her on Freebmd Peter?

This is correct area for marriage:
Marriages Sep 1875
HOGG John James B Thirsk 9d 628
HOGG Mary Jane Thirsk 9d 628

Added:
Deaths Sep 1879
Hogg Mary Jane 21 Thirsk 9d 239
She is a Hogg either way.

Hi and thanks,

I had found the marriage in 1875 but supsected it was not her as she married another Hogg ... I suspected this was a mistake on the website.

Thanks for this, maybe I need to order the marriage cert to confirm.

I am looking into the Hogg family and I wonder if John James B Hogg from the 1875 marriage is a relation. Could anyone spot him in the census now to see if I can find a connection? I looked for 1881 but nothing initally jumped out.

Thanks,

Peter

Have you tried Freebmd for a possible birth year/place for him to try and find him on census?

Hmmm interesting ... looks as though he didn't remarry.

I have looked for a death but can't see anything.

Do you think that John James BAKER Hogg and John James BUTLER Hogg both born in Ecclesall Bierw in 1849 are possibly the same person?

Thanks,

Peter

Yes, the same person.

Yes I can see why this has happened ... to me it is John James BUTLER ... can you spot a death? Or a possible emmigration?
