At LAC Crockford 1891 finds posted h/h 1891 Ernest + Julius missing 1891 Anthony Thomas Crockford is Thos Crawford (son Henry Thos is also Thos) NB I did a free search on Ancestry for Fred b 1887 +/-2 s/o Mary in Ont, and picked him out of 449 hits (He's transcribed as Fred K Crawford - Toronto City).
LAC Crockford 1881 is no problem - but can't find Anthony
1901 AG - Crockford gets 2 of Anthony's sons - they're in the Loyal TB Orphange in Picton, PE Co (PE Co is an island in L Ontario, abt 200km E of Toronto). Ancestry Crockford gets the 1891 family in Simcoe East less Fred b 1821 - so AG has mistranscribed them. So we back up to the start page, click Ontario, then Simcoe East, then the C surnames. Next CTRL F gets the find, and look for "ford" and we try Clockford, and see:
1901 Census of Canada Page Information District: ON SIMCOE (East/Est) (#113) Subdistrict: Orillia H-7 Page 10 Details: Schedule 1 18 89 Clockford Margeart F Head W Aug 11 1822 78 etc
Now, in 1901, Schedule 1 was for people and Schedule 2 was for the house, so use the 1901 geographic link with the above info to get Sched 2. http://data2.collectionscanada.gc.ca/1901/z/z003/z000101620.pdf
It shows the addy is Concession 2 Lot 5(part)
I don't find Ernest, nor Julian
Now 1911 Crockford in Ontario at AG gets Fred, the 3 girls, and Julius + h/h - all in Simcoe East. Note "There is one correction where the suggested surname correction is crockford." - that link gets Alex. Don't see Ernest, nor Anthony's 3 kids, but a search on Ancestry suggests the latter are all in Toronto Centre. So again we go to the C surname lists, and find them as Crochford.
Finally, I did a search at FS for 1871:
Name:Fredk Crockford Gender:Male Age:49 Calculated Birth Year:1822 Country or Province of Birth:Engd Marital Status:Married Ethnic Origin:English Religion:Ch Of Eng Census Place:02, Orillia k, North Simcoe 42, Ontario Page Number:12 Line Number:19 [P12L19-20, P13L1-8] House Number:36 Family Number:36 Film Number:4396755 Library and Archives Canada Film Number:C-9964 Digital Folder Number:4396755 Image Number:00367
Household Gender Age Fredk Crockford M 49 Margt Crockford F 47 Fredk Crockford M 20 Alexander Crockford M 13 Ernest Crockford M 10 Julius Crockford M 7 Sarah Crockford F 19 Silvia Crockford F 16 Victorine Crockford F 12 Anthony Crockford M 13
Now it's hard to construct a h/h if it contains non-Crockfords whose name I can't guess. (There's no Mary Taylor, but who knows if there's others there.) Note order is Head, Wife, Sons, Daurs, then Anthony. It was this odd placing for Anthony that suggested to me he might be Fredk's nephew. [You could ask here for an 1871 image, or wait until the end of summer when it'll be free at LAC]
Now for some other links:
http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~ote/orphans/loyal-true-blue-orphanage.htm
For concession maps: http://digital.library.mcgill.ca/countyatlas/SearchMapframes.php
Clicking on Simcoe, then the township, we see we have a problem - there's 2 Orillias. For ref, we see that Marchmont is in C 1 L 1SW in N Orillia Twp. CAUTION These maps aren't always oriented so N is top - here NW is top.
From the 1872 directory, Fred is a freeholder in S Orillia Twp (C2 L5): http://www.waynecook.com/1872_Gazatteer.html http://www.waynecook.com/simcoe.shtml
So it's S Orillia Twp we want. Note there's a diagonal road crossing the line road on the NE boundary of C2 L5 - this is now the Transcanada.
Look up Marchmont, Ontario at http://maps.google.com/ Concession 2 lies between Wainman Line and Fairgrounds Rd
Here I think a full lot is 4400' x 1980' (66.67 chains x 30 chns), so is 2000 sq chns in size, i.e., 200 acres.

Ken - I've got to change my notes file now, and you've had a few days to search, so I thought I'd go over what I found.
Firstly, I didn't notice there's no ref posted to FamilySearch, so go to https://www.familysearch.org/ and browse by location. Here, we're interested in Canada (1871) and Ontario (BMDs).
Re the BMDs, there are Orillia/Simcoe deaths for Fred & Margt, and all 7 kids except Alex (NB Ernest b 1861-ish Julius b 1864-ish). (NB Irok Crockford I think is Frdk Crockford mistranscribed, sim Earnest Brockford - I've not seen originals) You'll note from the d.regos, there's some confusion abt Margt's MS - Smith/Grattan
FreeBMD has: Marriages Sep 1869 (>99%) >>CROCKFORD Frederick St Giles 1b 811 >>Grattan Margaret St. Giles 1b 811 LEAFE Henry St. Giles 1b 811 SCANLAN Catherine St. Giles 1b 811
but that's an odd date - after all the kids are born, and just before they emigrate - I wonder who her dad is on m.cert. NB Son Fred is Frederick Smith Crockford on his d.rego.
While you're doing BMDs, keep an eye out for Anthony Thos. Crockford d 4/10/1894 @ Toronto. Anthony Thomas Crockford & Mary Christina Milloy had 3 sons: Frederick Alexander Crockford b 29/12/1886 @ Toronto Henry Thomas Crockford b 25/12/1889 @ Toronto Charles Archibald Crockford b 23/3/1892 @ Toronto
Next, some UK searches (I don't have an Ancestry sub, as you'll see by lack of detail on free searches)
1861 Pancras RD (rg9/102) has the 1891 Crockford h/h + 3 servants
1851 St George Hanover Sq RD (ho107/1475) has Sarah with 3 kids: Sarah F Caockford abt 1791 Frederick Caockford abt 1822 Felix Caockford abt 1827 Harriet Caockford abt 1825
1861 Pancras RD (rg9/124) has: Felix Crockford abt 1829 city, Middlesex, England Head city, Middlesex Maria Crockford abt 1836 city, Surrey, England Wife city, Middlesex Anthony Crockford abt 1857 city, Middlesex, Son city, Middlesex
The 1901/11 censuses give d.o.immigration - 1869 for girls - and everyone incl Anthony's here by 1871.
So use the census links URL I gave in an earlier post, and click on intro in the left margin, then drill-down via immig. We want the 1865-1900 Quebec index.
A search for Crockford finds Felix + Anthony (1870), and Mr F plus the 4 women (1869). Also on Mr F's ship we find:
Name:CRAWFORD, Julius Age:5 Date of Arrival (YYYY/MM/DD) :1869/09/16 Port of Arrival:Québec Ship:NOVA SCOTIAN Reference:RG 76 Microfilm:C-4524
Unlike Felix, there's no linked image for our 1869 trip, so back out and search in "Passenger Lists, 1865-1922". We find Mr & Mrs Crockford with the girls travelling in cabin class, and the 4 "Crawford" boys accompanied by Mary Taylor in steerage.
Back out to the gateway/intro page. In left margin, click Ancestor search (for Crockford) it's Ernest you want. Seems he went out west for the NW Rebellion. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louis_Riel
Back out again and take the military - WW1 link, then the search our "Soldiers of the First World War" database link for Crockford It looks like there's two of Anthony's sons there, and his cousin Fred b 18/5/1850! Normally, you can click on their view image link, and see their attestation papers, but not today. (LAC seem to be in the midst of changing their site.)
