I am hoping that someone will be able to give me advice on how to find Frank Townsend on the 1911 census. I have tried looking for him under his name plus any others that I can think of e.g. Townhend, F* Townsend etc but with no success.

I know that he was married in 1915 to Gertude Northam Setherton in Devon (occupation blacksmith), he was born (1885), and lived in Devon.
On the 1901 census he was living in Christow Tiverton Devon but he is not with his parents in 1911. So where is he?

Thank you for looking at my thread, Helen

Thank you very much for your replies. Frank Townsend in the army! Could Frank have been in the army very briefly as he was not on the 1901 and was not in 1915. Where would I be able to find this out?
Thank you for the other census information too.
Your help is greatly appreciated. Helen
p.s thank you for his marriage reference ...I have his marriage certificate and setherton/Letherton/Southerton are all surnames that have been used on his wifes side of the family :-)

Thank you everyone for their post ....the correct 1901 census for my Frank Townsend is:
Frank Townsend
Age: 16 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1885
Relation: Son Father's name: Robert Townsend
Mother's name: Grace Knapman Townsend
Gender: Male Where born: Christow, Devon, England
Civil parish: Christow Ecclesiastical parish: Christow St James
I hope this helps

Ok am I right in thinking that it looks as if he was not in the army now? But he is still illusive in 1911
