Hi,
I have been researching my Family Tree and Genearlogical Heritage for quite a while now, and have become fairly experienced in doing so, i know of most rersources available to me, yet can still not find the Birth/Parentage of Andrew
I have put this question to many other Family Tree sites before and none could answer me
As i am too young to drive, i cannot travel to any archives to see if they can help me, as i live far from Andrews Birthplace, so that is not a possibilty
And if anyone could help me to find information on his birth, parents or siblings, i would be eternally grateful!
Here is all the information i have on Andrew..

Andrew Fraser
-Born 1808-1810 (give or take a fair few years each way)
-Married Hannah Worsley on 19th or 29th April 1829 (my computer is unavailable to me at this moment so i shall verify once i gain access)
-Married at Manchester cathedral (i think)
-in the 1841 census, he is living in Bunbury,Cheshire as a Police Officer, this gives his birth year as 1808 and birthplace as 'out of county'
-in the 1851 census, he is living in manchester, lancashire with the occupation 'smith', his birthyear would be 1810 and his birthplace as Manchester, Lancashire
-Died 1853 in Manchester.
- he also hand numerous children, who i shall give information on if needed, as i know that naming customs of the time, mean that his childrens names could hep us find his fathers and mothers name

If anyone could find his Parents, it would be greatly appreciated!
No one has been able too in the past, the challenge is set!
Good Luck

Kind Regards,
Joel

Are you certain you have the correct family in 1841

Just seems strange to be a coach maker, then police officer and then a smith

First and third occupation I could understand the connection

It's definitly the right family, as the children are there with same names, he also had a child in 1838, who was born in Halifax, Yorkshire.
i believe that Andrew was drafted in to deal with the 'Plug Riots' of the time, in which he would of needed to travel to both Bunbury and Halifax

I favour Scotland as place of birth

Fairly usual for people to put the place where they were living as their place of birth

Does Anyone Here have any input as to whether they think that that could be Andrews date of birth?

regards,
Joel

he was still a coach maker in 1836

Baptisms: 27 Apr 1836 Collegiate, Manchester, Lancashire, England
William Fraser - son of Andrew Fraser & Hannah
Abode: Manchr
Occupation: Coachmaker
Baptised by: H. Fielding
Register: Baptisms 1836, Page 245, Entry 1954

in 1841 if born in Scotland the 'born in/out of county' column often contains 'S'

is Isabella b 1844 one of the children

if so she seems to have been born in Manchester not Cheshire

and Mary Hannah b 1846

there also seems to be as a possible (esp if married 1829)

John Worsley Fraser b 1832

If he was a police officer have you looked for his record of service which just might give clues to his date of birth and background?

Have you deleted your second thread on Andrew ??

Janet

Janet Report 1 Jul 2011 13:45

Lindsay asked the question whether you have Donald as his father on your tree but I can't see a response. There is a Donald Fraser living in Manchester at the Union Workhouse.

(I appreciate that the name doesn't fit in with Andrew's family but wondered wny Lindsey posed this question)-

Having said that there is a Jane Frazer aged 75 living with four ? grandchildren in 1841 in Manchester Ann 15 - William-15 Eliza 10 and Elizabeth 10 . These names do seem to fit with Andrew's family could they be Andrew's male sibling's children. -jl

hi,
i have indeed deleted my second thread

there are no records about andrews police time as i have contacted someone about that already

ahh sorry lindsey i missed that, indeed i do, as it was the only fraser i could find to fit the Bill

Jane may well be andrews mother, as he also had an eldest daugher born called Jane
i shall look into this

Joel
