Hi,

I am trying to find Rosina (sometimes known as Rose) Santry in the 1911 census.
Born Rosina Eldridge in 1875 to parents James and Elizabeth, Rosina married John Santry in 1894. I can find them in the 1901 census with 3 children, Rosina's mother Elizabeth is also living with them.

Between 1901 and 1911 something odd happens. I can find Elizabeth Eldridge (Rosina's mother) as an inmate in a workhouse, 2 of Rosina's daughters appear to be in an orphanage in blackburn, but her husband and sons are still living together in London. I can find no sign of Rosina anywhere.

Anyone have any ideas as to what could have happened.

She definitely did not die in this period, as I can find her, full name Rosina Jane Santry in the death records in 1958.

Any help much appreciated.

John says on 1911 that he is married...........and one child of the 8 born in the marriage has died.

Some women fighting for the right to vote chose not to be included in the 1911 census. However, as you say, it's odd that the two daughters were in an orphanage in Blackburn and the male members of the family remained in London.

Address: 50 Nelson St Stepney E

SANTEY, Rose Head Married F 31 1880 Cook Domestic St Georges East London

Number of years married and number of children not given. If this is the correct person, maybe she had left the family.

Thanks so much for all your help - Adeline that record does look as though it could be here. If so, I wonder what could have made her leave her family?
