Can anyone help me find Rosamund Potter in the 1911 census.
Not sure of her location - it was either Leeds or York. She would have been about 24 years old. Would appreciate any help - thank you.

Where was she born? Was Potter her maiden name?

Not seeing a birth for a Rosamund Potter c1887.

Hi Rose,
I think it may be her married name. Got a feeling she was a widow when she married my great uncle in 1913. I think she was born in about 1884/5 but this wont help if Potter was her married name. Had hoped she would be on the 1911 census with her first husband. Sorry about being slow replying - haven't been on here for a while and everything looks so different.

There's one in Fulham but she married in York.

Marriages Dec 1913
Duncan Thomas P Potter York 9d 105 Potter Rosamond Duncan York 9d 105

Did they have any children? Can work out her maiden name then

HI Rose,
I know she married in York in 1913 to my great uncle Thomas Duncan but can't trace her earlier than this. I thought she may be on the 1911 census - if I knew where she was living and with whom i might be able to find out more about her.Do you know if she appears at all in 1911?

There is a Rose Mary Potter, aged 25, in Thirsk, but the 1911 census says 'single', doesn't mention 'widow'. There is also a son, born 1910, but it doesn't say whose son he was.

If this helps, can PM the details to you.

Hi Tudor,
When she married my great uncle in 1913 I think she had a son called Kenneth. He was raised as my mothers cousin but she seemed to think her uncle adopted him when he married the boys mother. I was never sure how true this story was so have been trying to trace Rosamund. any info you may find would be appreciated.

OK, try this one ! Rosamund Potter, aged 24, born Porlock, Somerset. Was a boarder at what would appear to be some sort o boarding house, Address was 29 Granville Gardens, Shepherds Bush. Would have been in Hammersmith parish, Fulham, I think. Hope this helps.

Yes, that info comes from the 1911 census sheet, as filled in by whover was in charge. Anything prior to that might be found on census for Somerset. CLICK,do you think that we have her now ?

Tudor,

Still can't see a birth for her though or on any previous census. Would feel happier then.

Hi Rose and Tudor,
Thanks for helping me out last night.
Just logged on as have been in the garden all day.
Rosamunds death in Plymouth in 1945 is right because my late mother visited her and Thomas Duncan there in the 1930's so I knew they had moved to the south west. I think I will order their marriage certificate tomorrow, this might shed a bit of light on who she was. Once again thanks for your input.
