My great-aunt Lois Cook (born Kensworth, Herts 1851) married George Challice in Kensington in 1872 according to FreeBMD. I have found her as a widow with her 6 children in 1891, 1901 and 1911 but can't find her and George in 1881 or George in 1851 or 1861. There is a possible George Challice in 1871 in Paddington, a horse keeper living with his cab proprietor father William Challice (widower 54), but otherwise George is elusive! I've tried the obvious Challice, Chalice and Challis but have got nowhere. |

Hi Ruth - thanks - brilliant. It never occurred to me to try Challia! Must be the right family, though there's an extra child, Ada, who I didn't know about. No I haven't got the marriage certificate - it's on my "to get" list! |

A tip - try searching with 1st names only, especially if you are fortunate to have an unusual name to look for, as here. |

Thanks - I'll remember that. |
