Jeffery born 1847 in Weybridge, and John, his brother, born 1854 in Walton on Thames, appear in 1861 and 1871 censuses, and then disappear. There were 4 other siblings and I can trace all of them, but I just can't find Jeffery (Jeffrey) or John. Can anyone help? Thank you in advance.

Oh, and I've found Jeffery in the 1851 census as well.

As there doesn't appear to any freebmd info about deaths/marriages, it would seem that they may have emigrated.

Unfortunately, FMP emigration records don't start until 1890

I didn't realise that they didn't start till then.

I've tried Ellis Island records, no joy. I've tried death records for some of the Australian states, and again no joy.

If I change the heading of my request (can I do that?) and call it emigration, or something like that, is it possible that someone not in the UK would be able to check records that I can't?

Have been playing around with this one what does anyone think about this from 1901. I know the year of birth is slightly out.

Just returned to this. Thanks for the help, and yes Staffslass I think that must be my John. I can only assume he was out of the country for the other censuses. Although his age is not correct, he actually died later that year, and I have found his death notice, showing him as living at the same address as in the census, and as aged 47. Thanks very much.

Ria, I don't think this can be the same John, because the dates don't quite tie up. However, I've found the info of great use in solving one of my other Morphew problems. Thank you too for this.

Regards Sue
