Help needed looking for family details of Margaret Mary Burns b. 1841 in Scotland according to 1881 census.
She married Albert Hillier (b. 1840 Southampton)) a widower, in September 1875 in Southampton.
They had four children William Alfred 1877, Harry Albert 1879, Annie E 1880 and Lillian M 1882.

Do you have their marriage cert Ann? Thinking it might be helpful to have her father's name.

I wonder if it would be worth getting it? There are 70 Margaret Burns born around 1840 on the 1851 census!

Hi Jan
According to the 1881 census and marriage details on freebmd she is likely to be Margaret Mary Burns. I know it might not always be the case.
Thanks
Ann

There is no Margaret Mary Burns on the census as far as I can see. Even if there were, the names are too common to be sure it waas yours.
Hang onto this from Familysearch site just in case. But you need that marriage cert in my opinion.

I agree with George - tried to find her 1911 to see if a more exact birthplace was given, as is usually the case, but then realised she had died long before.

Yes, I think I will need to send for her marriage certificate. So I can be certain.
From what I have searched, Emma was born to Albert Hillier's first wife Eliza.

Thank you everyone for your time. I have to get dinner now or else I will have a very unhappy other half.

Thanks for that Potty. This gives me some details about her before she married, provided it is the same Margaret Mary Burns.
