hi guys ,probably a silly question,but how far back do certs go? at what point where bmd first recorded? thanks guys xxx

Civil registration began in 1837. Before that date you have to rely on parish records for births, marriages and deaths.

so if i find a bmd record on familysearch,can i still order it ? and will it give me the same info thats on a more modern cert ie: parents names?

Hi Lisa
Before Sept 1837 you will only find baptism records from the parish records marriage certs before this time will only show names of the couple and details of the wedding i.e. date.
