I am trying to add to my Johnston side of the Family Tree. I am looking for Janet Dawson Johnston. Born 14, Grace St, Anderston, Glasgow on the 26th March. 1869, Father John Alexander Johnston. Born.1843, Alloa, Clackmannanshire, and Mother Catherine Brown. Born. 30th Aug.1843 on the Isle of Easdale, Argyllshire. John and Catherine were married on 5th June. 1868 at Anderston Church, Glasgow, and lived at 14, Grace St, Anderston. MadMeg in the past has really helped me with research, but I think this one has hit the Buffers. We found her on the 1871 Census with all the right details, but from then on, no luck, she seems to have disappeared or died. We cannot find her marriage, children, death, nothing, so I am hoping that someone may know of her thro' family connections, or has the expertise to find her. Some of you have helped no end with other branches of my Family. So in advance, thanks , Norman.

Norman its best that you stick to your first thread as there is so much info and so much has been done for you it would be a nightmare for people to repeat it all

If you go back to your first thread and add to it, it will nudge it up the board and then you can delete this one

Free search from Scotlandspeople

This is the only match coming up for the names you are looking for.

Death
Janet Dawson Johnston
1923
County: Lanark
District: Anderston

However, this Janet was age 43yrs ... 10yrs younger than your person.

The only way you can definitely discount this person is to download the death certificate .. where her parents names should be recorded (if they were known to whoever registered the death)

Thanks Helen, What a shame about the age difference, right name, area and County. How do I find and download this Death Certificate please. I am an an amatuer on a PC.
I always thought that with her name, she would have been easy to trace after 1871 at 2 years of age. I had found another possible Janet Dawson Johnston on the 1891 Census as living in Tranmere, Birkenhead. no other details and in 1901, possibly in Chirton, Northumberland, no other details, but without her previous history, I did not pursue it. They were the only ones found with her name.
I have had a few problems, researching her later siblings, her sister to be, Catherine Brown Johnston was born 14.10.1878,St. Peters, Liverpool, 25.10.1879 christened in St. Peters Churchin in Liverpool and I cannot find her, until she was living with her Family in Cardiff on 1891 Census. Again thank you for your input, much appreciated, from an 83 year old, Norman
