Mary's point about Emma possibly not dying is perfectly valid - there was no divorce for ordinary folk in those days so wasn't unusual for someone just to up and off. For that reason, there was a fair bit of bigamy.

I did think a possible divorce! But she left all her children!

I can't see an obvious death for Emma, apart from a possible in Chelsea. She may not have died, of course - perhaps they just went their separate ways.

That is the correct 1871 census.
