Hi, Im hoping someone can help me or point me in the right direction....I have a Harry Davey b1876Maidstone Kent who was in the Merchant Navy for abt 40yrs he went in abt 15yrs in 1905 he got a Masters Certificate and 3 Medals...

Hello George,
Thank you for that information.....I remember now back in 2005 I was helping Cliff with this family....now he is in Nursing Home and his dau is expecting her first baby & asked her Dad (Cliff) if he knew anything abt his family so asked me again to help....I am stuck with the Merchant Navy maybe looking in wrong place he was a Master Mariner which he got a Certificate no idea name of ship ir service medal he died in 1942....and Executor of his will who I am now looking for is Frances Louise Stevenson

Click on Navy, which is on left hand side of home page. This gives you a list of Naval records. The one you want is near the bottom of the list "Campaign Medals Issued to Merchant Seamen first World War" Click on "search",enter his name and he should come up!

Hi Rita.

Following your email I located Harry Davey's 1903 (not 1905) Master' s Certificate in an index. London Metropolitan Archives. Index to the Captains' Register of Lloyds of London (Guidhall Library Ms 18567)

Davey. Harry b Maidstone1875 - Certificate No 002537 London -(place of award) Steamships- 1903 (date of Award)

Also chased up the Medal Card. Did you download it?
