hi all

I found out that my Great Grandad was in Stoke Priory Reformatory school in 1911. I'd like to find out why he was there, as I'm keen to build a more detailed picture of his life.

Does anybody know where I could find any records that might help? The reformatory was closed in the 20's, so I can't contact them directly.

If it helps, my Great Grandad was called Cyril Ellis (Born 1895 in Ipswich, he also went by the name of Sydney). His family was living in Peterborough at the same time that he was in Stoke Priory Reformatory, so maybe there would be records in Peterborough that would give me more infomation about what happened, but I'm not really sure where I should look?

Any help would be very appreciated
Richard

Yep, I saw this, but there didn't seem to be any conclusive answer and seeing that the post was three years old, it seemed worth asking the question again just incase somebody else had any new advice.

OK, I've not used this forum before, so I didn't realise that posting on the old one would bring it back to the top again.
