No sorry only the address in Barnsley. His father was Charles Gowan Fleming but that doesnt come up with anything either. Perhaps they didnot bother to fill in the 1881 91 census forms thanks for trying though. As you rightly say it is bizarre and very frustrating.

Thanks Maddie, Frances was my Grand mother and like you I have found more recent records but for some reason I seem to draw a blank about his life before he came to Tottenham. An address of 26 Nelson Street Barnsley was recorded on his marriage certificate so Im assuming his parents were still there when he got married.

Hi I am trying to find some more info about my Great Grandfather Charles Fleming. He was born on 11th February 1872 in Barnsley. His father was also Charles and his mother was Mary Cartwright Fleming. I have got this information from a marriage certificate. I know at some point he left Barnsley and ended up in Tottenham. I can find him married in the 1901 census to my Great Grandmother Harriett. What I cant seem to find is any record of when he was a boy on census records so I cannot find out what his parents did for a living or whether he had any bothers or sisters any help would be greatly appreciated. I have looked and looked an must be missing something. Thanks.
