Find Ancestors

A relative recently found a plaque for John Carlisle Osborne b.12.11.1914 - d.8.12.1998 in a Sydney cemetery. The Carlisle and Osborne are family names for me and I wonder if there could be a connection. He married in 1947 - there is a query here as well. In the N.S.W. BDM a J.C.O has 2 records of marriage in the same year. It's hard to imagine 2 J.C.O being married in the same year. That is a big coincidence. If I am able to find his parents names it may shed some light on the puzzle. Thank you sleuths for help. Leonie

it obviously is not two marriages of a John Carlisle Osborne both to a woman named Ivy Ellen ...

it appears that Ivy Ellen had been previously married perhaps, and or it seems there may be some problem with the entry in the index or the transcription to explain the two different districts, note that one reg number is 16418 and the other is 18418, also an improbable coincidence

you may request copies of the death notices from that site and they should provide the names of children / grandchildren


of course his parents' names may be obtained from his marriage certificate

if you do an internet search for 'joy murrin' you will find a transcription service that costs half of the price of a certificate, if you explain the oddities with the index details they will be able to sort it out certainly
