Find Ancestors

I am searching for the death dates of James Tomkins, born 1809 in Croydon, Surrey, England, and his wife Ann (nee Malone) born c1820 in Ireland..

Date and place of the marriage for James Tomkins and Ann Malone are unknown to me. This would be wonderful to find as well.

James shows up in the 1881 census living at 12 Handcross Alley, Croydon, Surrey along with Ann and their son George Tomkins.

I've found the family in the 1871 and 1861 census as well with various of their children..
Ann's birthplace is listed as Rosgrave, Ireland in 1861 and Rosgray, Ireland in 1871.
I cannot find a "Rosgrave" on the internet , so I suspect she may have been from Rosgray or Roscrea.

Can anyone find the death dates and places for James Tomkins and his wife Ann?

So both James and Ann were married previously!??!

Am I following this correctly?....

- James Tomkins was born c1809 in Croydon, England
- James marries someone who may have been the daughter of Amelia Hodges; who dies before 1851

- Ann Malone was born c1818 in Redgrave, Ireland
- Ann married John Cummins in Ireland
- Ann & John have at least 2 children: Michael in Ireland(1840) & Mary in Croydon(1851)
- Ann's husband, John, dies in Croydon 1854 or 1855

- James Tomkins marries Ann Cummins June 1858 in Croydon

- James Tomkins dies March 1884 in Croydon

What an interesting assembly of laundresses in 1851...
It possibly could be his mother-in-law, his mother, a friend, and 2 sister-in-laws (?).
Could his wife have just passed away and they were there for visitation?

Can anything be found in the 1841 census?

Any sign of a death for Ann Tomkins?

Look at the address on the 1851 census James Tomkins.....although on this census (1841)Hannah was 50.

And it seems logical that James Tomkins' first wife would be named Hannah.
Both his daughter and his grandaughter (my wife's grandmother) were named Hannah.

Sorry Murray, it was the children from the first marriage I was after.....it just makes me wonder if the Hannah I found on the 1841 with a James Tomkins ( although the image of the surname is rather difficult to read.) was indeed his wife, but obviously with her being 50...there would be no children. I hope that all makes sense.

I believe that James Tomkins had those 3 children: James(1859), George(1860), Hannah(1864) with Ann.

From his prior marriage to Hannah it appears he had Charlotte(1847).

Hannah seems to have produced 3 children in her first marriage with John Cummins: Michael in Ireland(1840), Mary in Croydon(1851), and John in Sanderstead, Surrey( 1852).
