Hello Prickly Holly, Wow thanks so much! That is an amazing amount of information you have kindly found for me! It is a mystery why Reuben was put in the home poor fellow. I'm sorry to not have answered you sooner as I couldn't find how to get to my messages to answer, Cynthia has kindly guided me as I am very new to all of this. Thanks again....

Hmmm, and yet i see that she had two younger children that she kept with her in 1891.

So i have no idea why Reuben was put into care.

If the father died in 1887, possibly mother Sarah could not afford to care for him.
It might be that the other children were old enough to work.

Hello, My grandfather Reuben Cook born 10/5/1880 Forest Gate,( parents Samuel Cook b.1839 Poplar / d.1887, & Sarah Ann nee Noquet b.1841 Spitalfields) was placed into Dr Barnardos Home Stepney at the age of 11, we are wanting to find out why he was placed there & if any of his siblings were also in a Home, if they weren't why would he have been placed there by himself? Can anyone help please.....thankyou
