I'm sorry I can't find her after 1901 either.

I don't have access to the full 1911 records but there's an entry for a Maggie Papworth born 1887 living in Edmonton, Middx.

should have added that Robert Adamson and Maggie Adamson were witnesses for William Papworth and Mary Ellen Burford.


I have just looked at the marriage cert for William Papworth and the way he has written 'William' is exactly the same as William Birkitt.

Could be a mix up if there were a couple of marriages on the same day, and the clerk, or whoever was recording, was busy.

but why would William Papworth sign his name William Burkitt ?

(even if the vicar or whoever got it wrong) and Maggie has signed her name Maggie Burkitt and the Banns were called in the name of Burkitt!
