Hi Barbara, rather than make assumptions which might lead you along the wrong path, you really need to get one of the children's birth certificates to confirm mother's maiden name.

The info Shirley's posted above for Isaac should do the trick.

Victor - are you saying that's his parent's marriage? Barbara's Robert was BORN 1841, father unknown.

Hello Barbara, it's such a commonly found name that a bit more info would be useful. Who were his children and when/where born?

What census have you found him on?

Have you found him on any census with her and any family. Did they have children after 1875 because births had to registered by law than and a birth cert will show her maiden name

My gg grandfather Robert Johnson was born Houghton Le Spring Durham in 1841. I know he married a Mary but would love to know her maiden name.
His mother was Mary Ann Johnson father unknown. At 2 wks he was in the workhouse with mother and at 9 years living with grandparents.
Can anyone find his wife's maiden name please
