I must say it is certainly quite puzzling.....

The Mount Jerome Cemetery record says he was buried 18/03/1902 aged 77... The 1901 i got from a family members tree... it would seem this is wrong!!

Would a marriage at 16 have been possible??? Born London does make things a bit better for us, as those records should still be intact!!

He gives his father as William Groves (another William) and as a merchant. Marie that is a wonderful help, as to all else above also!! This gives me something more to go on!!

Forgive me being naive, are these records all found on Genes??

BUT - would have made him 16 on the 1857 marriage. Think the fibbing about age theory more likely.

You say he died in 1902 but I'm not seeing him in the 1901 Irish census (had hoped it may give clue to birthplace).

Hi there,

Unfortunately we do not know where it the UK, if at all he was born. He married twice in Ireland. His first wife was Lucy Ann Bagnall nee Phillips, they married in 1857, Lucy passed away in 1889. He then Remarried in 1887. William passed away in 1902 in Ireland.

William had children with Charlotte Roe, his second wife. One of those was a William, He had children, one of which was Kenneth (all Groves). Kenneth was my grandfather. He passed away last month.

As such i have no help to search his side of the family!! :(

I am really struggling to find info on my great great granddad william. i know he married twice and i know he was born in 1824 but i cannot find any records for him to get details on his mother and father. Irish records i know were destroyed but i am hoping he was born in the uk then moved...
