Poppygirl, if you check the White Pages (Liz gave you the link above) there is an A & S Carne here in Western Australia.

If you like I can call them to ask the question - is that Alan & Sylvia???
(I have VOIP so it is free as well!)

Happy to help, let me know.

Not really sure, Shirley, just thought it might have narrowed the year down for anyone that was looking, for me, but will try the whites pages to see. I did realise that I wouldn't find their forward travels, after South Africa, that is why I thought that if I were to find when they left from England it would help. Thank you

The emigration records on FMP only go up to 1960 so before they married, Your best bet would be to try the white pages as already advised.
Does it really have a significance on when they went to SA as you wont find any records online for their forward travels from there. :-)

I really wanted to find them going to South Africa, first, as that will give me a year, in which they left England, so that I can go from there. Thanks Liz.

Have you tried a search on this site or The White Pages for Australia - our equivalent of the phone book,
Good luck,

Think this is the link to the white pages, I am not sure what year the emigration lists go up to. I only have access up until l960. Liz

Hello,
This is a real longshot, but after having discovered a second cousin, in Australia now discover that her husband comes from the same place as mine, back here, in England. . He is looking for his cousin, Sylvia Murname, who he thinks left for South Africa, after she married. I have found a marriage of a Sylvia to an Alan G Carne, in 1969, in Redbridge, and wondered if anyone is able to find them emigrating to South Africa. Apparently they moved on to Australia, afterwards, and if anyone can find them, then, that would also be great. I am sorry that the details are not much, but know how good you all are so maybe someone could find them, for me, please. Thanks a lot.
