If you tell me who you are looking for I can check the birth indexes for you. There were no civil registrations here before 1842 so it may be a case of hoping that he was baptized.

It's also worth noting that Ancestry are particularly bad at transcribing Channel Island surnames, especially those derived from French.

There is a lovely lady called JerseyLily that does Jersey lookups, i will see if i can find one of her threads.

Can anybody help with this. On the 1911 census it has my grandfather being born in Jersey,Channel Islands in the 1840's but I cannot find any birth evidence and he is not in any of the UK or Channel Islands census.
Hoping someone can shed some light on this
