He is my great grandfather and im after as much help/info as you can give me.
When he died my great grandmother was pregnant with my gran and James never knew he would have a daughter.

I have just made contact with James millars brother who was able to give me James Millars date of birth, 7 th may 1920 born in county Antrim Belfast.

James parents, George Millar and margaret Reid married on 1st April 1918 at Bethany Presbyterian church in belfast.

This is all the info we have, Sadly james brother does not have any certificates to verify this information and i would love to know how to abtain copies.

Irish records are something new to me and im so lost as to where to look for parish records and GRO records even census records!

Any help is appreciated, thank you x

The GRO(I) index thru 1958 (excl N. Ireland post-partition) is available at:
https://www.familysearch.org/s/collection/list#page=1®ion=EUROPE

One can purchase certs (or cheaper still, the uncertified images of the rego) via:
http://www.groireland.ie/
[Since the marr was pre-partition, you can order it thru either Ireland - the above is the republic site - I imagine some of the kids were born post-partition, so there you'll have to order thru GRONI - google it]

The Irish 1901/1911 censuses are free at:
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/
[Not heard of any release dates for next census (=1926 in both Irelands)]
