I'm trying to find out more about my Grt x3 Grandfather's family. He was William Fraser. I believe he was born in July 1819 in Scotland although some of the family records say he was born in England. He married Ann Grant in Oct 1852 in Miltown of Castle Grant. I don't have any details on his parents other than they were Hugh Fraser and Catherine Campbell or whether he had any siblings. William emigrated to New Zealand with his wife and three of his four children in 1860. His fourth child died in Scotland in 1853.

Thank you, Heather.

Unfortunately both the 1841 and the 1851 census for this parish are missing.

Pre-1891, the parish was a cross border parish, partly in INV and partly MOR (then Elginshire).

Whether Grantown-on-Spey used to be called Milltown of Castle Grant, I don't know - you could ask here:
http://grantownmuseum.co.uk/

The actual records might name the farm they were from. The 1854 bapt of my g gran names the farms each of her parents were from, but this was in Lonmay, 60 m to E. It varied very much by parish. You can buy images of the regos from SP at abt 1 GBP per.
