Find Ancestors

I am trying to find George Edward Poole. He was born in Cheshire about 1850. He married an Ellen Grace Bartlett. I have found them married and have found all their children but I cannot find any more information about George. I cannot ask my Great Aunt as she does not want to talk about her father.Apparently he was not a very nice person. I have found the family of Ellen but we have come to a brick wall with George. All help is gratefully received..
