Post Office workers on Ancestry look up please...

The bit that says "Father Inspector" will be correct... he was the Inspector of Letter carriers and the owner of the Post Office Directory that went on to be Kellys Directory.in fact it was his father i was looking for.

Benjamin Critchett senior was born 1776 and was working for the Post Office by 1800 as he is mentioned in his uncles Will at that time, Benjamin junior his eldest son was a leather seller/tanner in business with his brothers and fathers but the business was dissolved around 1827....I never knew until i saw this that he worked for the Post Office as well!!. He can`t have been there long though as he died in 1838 in the Leeds area and was back in the Leather business at the time of his death.

Another piece of the jigsaw puzzle...

Looked to see if another Critchett was there, but I couldn't see one.

Oh stupid me --I realise now I only put the year 1829 + /- 1 year

must be getting tired lol !!

My ancestry sub ran out a couple of weeks ago...typical that they add some new records that are of use to me soon after!!
