Looking for the parents/siblings of Mary Hamilton. I have her marriage cert, she married George Thomas Griffiths in Manchester in 1882 and she states her father as Edwin Hamilton, Labourer. On the 1891. 1901 and 1911 states she was born in Hull Yorkshire.

Have been stuck at this point for a few years.

Christine :-)

Yep that is the family,

George Thomas (senior) was actually born in 1851 Manchester.

Not sure where to go from here.

A second opinion on the marriage certificate, Mary's father maybe Edward but the writing is really poor and to be honest here the 'd' on the end is just a squigle.

Christine

Id be inclined to have a mooch through ScotlandsPeople. The name Hamilton fits with the Scots

There is no death that matches Edwin Hamilton between the birth and marriage of Mary and as they cant be found on any census this again would lead me to SP

Mary could have been illegitimate (or not) born in Scotland and brought back to Hull without her ever knowing she was born there?

She has to be somewhere so you just have to go through every bit of available info there is

One question, do you know if she had siblings or indeed do you know anything else about her at all? And she was a spinster on her marriage to George?

Have you got her death cert to see if there are any clues?

This birth is out by 8 years according to the censuses but you never know, she may have added years to her age as she would have only have been 16 at the time of her marriage?
