hi all about 2 year ago i tried to trace ancesters from ireland but i am still without any answers i am hoping that maybe new information on some sites has been added since. i am trying to find parents of samuel atcheson (with various spelling) and jane tennant, both were born in co.down around 1830 on their marriage in 1852 (in stockton england ) samuel's father was also samuel atcheson a miller. Janes father was john tennant a baker. I dont know think they came to england together as in the 1851 census they were living with different families none of which were their parents. I have all the english census from 1851 in durham & sunderland areas,in the 1861 in jarrow he is named as James? but all the rest and his marriage he is Samuel Atcheson.
There was 1 possible link if a sister Sarah who married a ? flynn in ireland about 1860 her father was a samuel but thats all the info i have

thanks Maura looks interesting the name Samuel James atcheson especially as in 1861 in Jarrow my Samuel actually used the name James on the census in all other he used Samuel only. He called one of his children S / J and another son my g,g,granfather Hugh called his son S/J. I also see in the letter link you gave me names of children seem to repeat a lot and they all figure in the Sunderland family.
From the letter transcripts Samuel Thomas Atcheson and Isabella Davis who must have married about 1810 could be the parents of my Samuel who was born 1830c
thanks again Makem
