Is there anyone who can help me to locate this family?
I know that two children of John William BRADFORD & his wife Elizabeth were baptized in Ystradgynlais on 18 Oct 1875, they were Elizabeth and William.
I believe that dau Elizabeth went on to work as a scullery maid at Barrell's Hall in Warks in 1891 before marrying Charles George Taylor in West Bromwich, Staffs in 1895 and living the rest of her life in Wolverhampton.
I don't know any more about her parents, siblings or whereabouts in 1881 so any leads would be gratefully received. Having examined the family of George Bradford born in Leominster who raised his family in Swansea - I don't think that he is related.

Have you got Elizabeth's marriage cert? Does it give her father's occupation?

Have you found Elizabeth's birth, and/or is this it? Births Dec 1874 Bradford Elizabeth Gower 11a 762

Thanks Ozi,
I had already ordered the marriage certificate - but I guess it won't arrive until the end of next week.
Thanks Patchem,
I discounted (maybe too quickly) the Gower birth for two reasons.
One is this death: Elizabeth Bradford, age at death 0, Oct-Nov-Dec 1875 Gower 11a 404
The other is that the 1911 census gives the pob specifically as Ystradgynlais - a birth there would have been registered in Neath (before summer '75) or Pontardawe (afterwards) - not Gower. I have heard that not all Neath records have been indexed (hence the fruitless search for her birth rec - maybe). The bap records however do through up Elizabeth and her brother William.
I could really use the help of of someone with access to the parish registers of Ystradgynlais and/or records for Neath & Pontardawe to build up a more complete picture of this family and locate the parents in '71 at least.
There's a little more info on other possibilities in a pdf at: http://tinyurl.com/3jstl4h
Cheers, Clive.
