Ah - right. So it's the records that could be missing. Thank you very much for the info. At least it will stop me spending ages trying to track down the entries. I assume my only course of action now is to see whether any rent books are available for the time period and locality. |

yep - the 1861 entry is spot on. It's just the 1851 one that is so frustrating. |

Can anybody help me locate the 1851 entry for James Matthias (sometimes spelt Mathias). He was born in Chorlton, Lancashire in Q1 1843 to Welsh parents James and Sarah Matthias. They may have died before the 1851 census and their son was living with his grandparents in Penrhyncoch, Cardiganshire by 1861. |
