just to put you in the picture
about nathan whitchurch
in the census and on marriage cert he changed his name to robert
dont know why
so nathan [aka robert married fanny]

Going at this from another angle to see if little James is with Nanny & Granpa Green in 1881.

I took a look att he 1871 census to get Fanny's parents and find this....

Perhaps he was born as Green. If so this could be him (same occupation as the 1901 census):-

in 1901 he his with his parents
robert whitchurch born 1855 and fanny born 1855 both born nottingham
also his siblings are there in 1901

can not find james in the 1911 census
