Perfect sense. The registration index year is organised into 4 quarters so what shows as Mar actually covers registrations made from 1st January to 31st March.

Also note that a period of 42 days is allowed after a birth to register the birth so it is possible that a birth that occurred say from 19th of November to 31st of December the previous year may also appear as an entry in the March quarter.

Researching:
Don't put off until tomorrow doing what you can do today. If you like doing it today you can do it again tomorrow. Be kind to your children for it is they who will decide which care home you end up in.

Hello I have marriage, death and census records from 1861 to 1911 for William Currell, who was born c.1857 but I cannot find a birth record for him? Any help appreciated! He was born in East Harptree, Somerset.
