Hi re posting as last time submitted never showed up on the message board
Hope someone can help me find out where to look for street directories/maps relating to the 1841 census.
Have found who I believe may be the relation looking for William Jackson b 1793 Durham marrried to Eleanor Blakey living Newcastle on Tyne. Found Eleanor in 1841 census at her widowed mother's address with a sister/niece.
found a William Jackson in Bleiham St St John Westgate in a dswelling and it listed about another 62 other males no ages listed or place of birth.
so have been trying to find out what type of dwelling is it hospital, work site or prison. the census details are
RG number: HO107 Piece :824 Book/Folio: 11/37 Page:30
Registration District:Newcastle upon Tyne Sub District:Westgate Enumeration District:
Ecclesiastical Parish:
Civil Parish:St John Municipal Borough:
Address:Blenheim Street, St John, Westgate County:Northumberland

Hoping someone can point me in the right direction

I don't think it is an institution of any kind. It looks to me as if the enumerator has just listed everyone living in Blenheim Street and not separated them into families or households.

I could be wrong of course.

Thank you all for replies. I thought maybe it may have been some sort of men's only accommodation, or William's wife away from home for a reason .

Thank you for the additional information, about to start following up.
I thought I had reached a dead end.
