Hello Volunteers, Patritius Walsh married Anna Council in Launcestonin in 1834. They had children Luke c1837, Judith c1838, Patrick c1840, Richard c1844 and Joseph c1845 Patrick married Margaret Healy. They moved to Sydney and raised a family. I would like your help in finding Anna Council's parents, siblings etc. I would also like to find Margaret Healy's parents, siblings etc. I need registration details of the marriages so I can order certificates. Can you tell me if any of them were from convict stock. regards Max

Yes that is the famiy. Good work. Thank you for the date of Patritius's marriage and registration number Can you recommend a transcription agent for Tasmanian records. Is it possible to find the parents of Patritius Walsh and Ann Counsel and Margaret Healy on line? I note the spelling of Counsel changes with each birth registration and Anna becomes Ann and Patritius becomes Patrick

I wonder if there is any link here?
The Cornwall Chronicle (Launceston), Friday 9 July 1869 Walsh— On the 17th June, at Doveton-street, Ballarat, Victoria, the much-respected and deeply lamented Patricius William Walsh, Esq., son of Dr Lewis Walsh, Bachelor of Arts and Fellow of Trinity College, Dublin, and nephew to Lieutenant Patrick M'Dermot, R.N..
Surname: WELSH Given Names: Patricius William Event: D Father: Luke Mother: Julia UNKNOWN Age: 66 Birth Place: DUBL Year: 1869 Reg Number: 3350
He is buried at Ballarat Cemetery
WELSH PATRICIAS WILLIAM Area : DN Area DN Section : 15 Section 15 Row : Grave : 2
Note father's name given as Luke in death reg...plus the fact a notice was published in a Launceston newspaper...though he does seem to appear commonly as Welsh, not Walsh. But food for thought.

Hello Cherilyn, I have read somewhere it was not unusal for ex convicts described as old lags to harbour escaped convicts and hide them from the police. Thank you for your hard work. It makes interesting reading. I have no idea where Patrick Walsh and Margaret Healy married. I shall order the marriage certificate and cross my fingers. regards Max Bancroft

Well if it is this same fellow, he was the son of an Irish doctor, not a convict. He is certainly not in the VDL convict list, and nor his wife.
But the whole Walsh/Welsh thing - it might be a red herring anyway.
Are you ordering the Tassie marriage for Patritius & Anna or the SA one for Patrick & Margaret?
Perhaps try a Tassie lookup volunteer at www.raogk.org :-)
