Find Ancestors

Right, I think this is the most difficult one that I am having trouble with. I have James Henry Smith who was born in Finchley in 1859. At some point he was I think in the Navy and he married Sarah Catherine Bayfield b. circa 1860 (she was born in India).

I have info on Sarah as far back as I can. Her father Robert Bayfield originates from Suffolk and he was b. 1831 and her mother is Mary Snell (from India). They got married on 12th Aug 1857 in India.

I am looking for info on James Henry Smith's parents as all I have so far is their rough date of births. I am interested in their marriage and her maiden name.

I believe them to be Elizabeth b. 1828 and James Smith b. 1828. I think James was born in Finchley and was a Gardener.

Hi and thanks for all your efforts. So if I am summarising all the info correctly then I think we have:

Elizabeth Page married William May in 1849 and had two children (William & Harriet) which you have kindly found the baptisms for.

William died in 1852 and then Elizabeth remarried James Smith in 1855. The record shows under MOY but dates and area seem to fit.

Anyway, I am going to order the certs for the two marriages to make sure so will let you know how I get on.

Okay, so I think I have Elizabeth Page in the 1841 Census. I am now trying to locate her mother's maiden name and wonder if anyone can spot a marriage. I have posted the household details for the census as they seem to have an elderly female with a different surname so I am (maybe wrongly) assuming that this might be James Page's mother-in-law. So if anyone can spot a marriage for James Page & Sarah Partridge circa 1820, this would be great.
