Can someone please look up Joseph in the 1911 census, his father was William and was living in Alford, Lincolnshire when he got married in 1946, a long shot i know, thank you :-D

You really need his birth year. As you know his father's name, do you have the marriage cert?

do you have any other info occupation of him or father who did he marry

I have the marriage cert. but it doesn't have his age on. It just says he lived in Alford Lincolnshire when he married my great aunt Edna Troughton in Millom Cumberland in 1946. He was a bachelor and a railway employee.

Do you have an occupation for his father? By the way, the mother's maiden name on the birth found by PollyP. is Moss I think.

Yeh thanks Jan i had a look on free bmd it says Moss but it says Josephs' middle initial is E, so wasn't too sure if it was him. No it didn't give his fathers occupation or i couldn't read it i can't remember. I got the details from the records office.

He was living at 20 Commercial terrace, Alford when he married, is it possible to do an address search for back then?

The E is a mis-transcription - have checked image and it's R. You need details from the cert I think.

I think this is worth pursuing - the name isn't too common after all.
First, get that marriage cert.
Secondly, to check electoral registers you need to visit the nearest main library to the address, not available online unfortunately (remember they won't be available 1939-45).
