I am trying to find details on my Great Granddad, Arthur Jefferson Montague who I know was born between 1868 to 69 in St. Georges, Bermuda.

Arthur married Fanny Frances King (born 1872 in Portsea, England) in 1889 in Portsea Island near Portsmouth, England.

Arthur and Fanny had the following children:

Arthur Harold Montague born 1902 in Harrow On The Hill, England

Achibald Jefferson Montague born 1904 in Harrow On The Hill, England who seems to have married Margaret Allanson in 1922 Gateshead, England and/or Anne Hilda Stear in 1923 St. Catherines, Lincoln County, Thorold TWP

Frederick Ivor Montague born 1907 in Kentish Town, London, England

Stanley Leonard Montague born 1911 in Wood Green, London, Middlesex, England

Alfred George Montague born 29/04/1908 in Wood Green, Edmonton, London, England who married Rose Frances Thorogood born March 1917 in Romford, London, England (my Grandparents)

Arthur and Fanny also had another child but I do not have a name or sex but know they died before the 1911 English census.

In the 1901 English census Arthur and Fanny’s address is 1A Alma Terrace, Harrow.

On the 1911 English census Arthur and Fanny’s address is 43 Russell Ave, Wood Green, Edmonton

I am after Arthur’s full date of birth and his parents names to continue my tree. I have contacted the Burmese Registry office but they have little or no records before 1910 and I am currently waiting for a copy of Arthur and Fanny’s marriage certificate to see if his parents are on it.

So, does anyone have any info or advice?

I have come across a website www.nationalarchives.gov.uk which has details of Arthur Jefferson Montague being born 5/11/1868, St. Georges, Bermuda along with a brief description of him and Naval ships he served on.

The same site also has details of Alfred George Montague and Arthur Harold Montague of much the same thing.

Should it help I think each country has a National Archives website.

On "Trove" Australian newspaper website I found Frederick Ivor Montague had been sentenced for bigamy for having been married to Pollie Zuch and marrying Eileen Mary Shay 9/3/1946 in Brisbane, Australia. The site also has him being engaged to Gloria Mavis Holding 26/02/1951 where it refers to his late father Arthur Jefferson Montague but implies his mother is still alive.

As per a kind persons suggestion I have a copy of Arthur and Fanny’s marriage certificate which details Arthur as a seaman on the HMS Excellent and his father as Alfred Montague also a seaman.
