Welcome, David

I think the next thing you need is to obtain copy marriage certificates for your greatgrandparents, to confirm THEIR birthplaces, parents' names, etc.

If you'd like to give us some more details - your grandparents' names, dates and birthplaces, we may be able to find them on the census or at least give you the reference numbers so you can order the certificates

Best wishes

Hi David and welcome to the GR boards.

Has you have the birth certs you can now try to find their parents marriages.

Try

www.freebmd.org.uk

input parents names (assuming they are in England or Wales) and see if the marriages show. If you need assistance post rhe details you have in your post and someone will try to help.

Ok, so I'm entirely new to this...

In the past two days, I've gone from a standing start to having completed most of my living relatives and their parents and grandparents etc... well... at least the ones I know of.

I don't really understand what to do next. For example, I've found my Nan and Grandad's details and on their birth certificates it tells me their mother's maiden names.

The problem is I know nothing whatsoever of their mothers, so all I have to work with is just their maiden names.

What's the next step? How do I take that maiden name find further details about them?

Looking forward to your help!

:-)
