This is going to be a long shot with a name like Smith.

Can anyone help me with a Sidney Smith maybe born about 1890 ish in the Liverpool area.No idea wife and know only of one daughter Elsie Smith born 31/10/1912 again possible Liverpool area.

I understand this is a difficult one.

if she was born oct the birth should be reg within 6 weeks so that makes it the last Q of 1912

it will name the mother

No don't have her birth as i don't know which one it is.

how do you have the name of Sidney? Are you saying this is Elsie's father?

do you have fathers name from Elsie's marriage cert? if so when was it .what was his occupation

Sidney is named as Elsies father on both of her marriage certs and his occupation is General Labourer.1st marriage 1934 in Huddersfield to a Cecil Mulligan and second marriage in 1943 in Crewe to John Stephen Hutchinson.
I know Elsies date of birth from her daughter.

Yes i had to edit it which i did.

Whether someone reported it or something i do not know,it was'nt deleted by me.I needed all what was on there to follow up what people sent me.

Believe me i understand how much work goes into researching.

Luan this is what I would suggest,
1. Do you have the address in Huddersfield when Elsie married? If so you could contact Huddersfield Library and ask for an Electoral Roll look up and see if Sidney Smith is there. They are very good and searched a 5 yr period for me and as it took less than half an hour they did not charge.

2. Contact Huddersfield Registrar (google the address). Tell them you have been searching for a birth cert for ages and have come across one that may be connected in Huddersfield. Give Elsie’s name, exact dob and father’s name and ask if they could check the one with a mother’s maiden name of Taylor so that if it is the right one you can purchase it. I have done this a few times by e-mail and have always had a good response.

3. Contact the GRO at Southport and ask if it is possible to get a birth cert with exact dob, name and father’s name. There are about 20 Elsie Smith births during the 4 Quarter of 1912 (there are some with a second name also).
