I am still looking for a marriage for Arthur French in Hong kong around 1915 .
He was a Chinnese Labour manager after leaving the army and stayed in Hong Kong until 1918 when he returned home to the uk.

His wife and child died in a fire in Hong Kong according to his Military record.
Can anyone help with World Ancestry.

That Death Rego for George looks interesting it may have been his child .
He left his first stint in the Army 1912 and stayed on in Hong Kong as a Chinese Labour Manager I suspect this is when he married and had a child all be for them to die in a fire in Hong Kong.

I have found Arthur returning to the Uk In 1918, you guessed it back to 88 Minurta St. Nott
He rejoined the Army (Short Service)Again in 1918 left 1920

Can anyone with World Ancestry find his possible marriage in Hong Kong .

No GB .....on his marriage cert to Nellie he is down as 28 and a Bachelor living at 88 Minuerta St it all ties in lovely with What has been found and on his Military records it is the same Address.

I don't think there marriage was very good not much closeness between them so the story goes.

FMP has this death entry but no idea if a child or adult

Rule out that 1901 birth as Arthur did not enlist until 1907

Is he shown as widower on the marriage to Nellie ?

It is such an intriguing story I just have to find out somehow,I won't sleep a wink tonight...this darn Genealogy it really gets you in big time.

FMP should have overseas Military births. Sadly my sub does not cover those records

There is an entry for Ronald French born 1901 Hong Kong but have no idea if connected or not

BUT at the moment not finding a marriage in Hong Kong

I have just finished reading the miltary record of Arthur French bn 1889( his first stint that is no 9262 Kings own Yorkshire Infantry) on reading this it has thrown us a big shock it appears he was married before he married Nellie .
It states on his record that his first wife and child died in a fire in Hong Kong,the family has had no knowledge of this what so ever.

How do I find more details of ths union and Fire ,I would dearly love to find this for the family anyone have any Ideas as to where to start with this one .

And that extra info on the Pinneys it all ties in with what I know from this end.
They all,came out together to do farming in the lower South West of Western Australia.
Emily Gibson was Nellies Sister.

That is fantastic,just to fill you in a bit Arthur married Nellie Gibson my Oh's Grandmother .
Arthur and Nellie came to OZ in around 1924 after they married 1919.
I have never been able to find there passage even on the National Archives of OZ.
I do have Ancestry that is where I traced him back but could not find him in 1911.
Thankyou all for your help it has been invaluable.

Is there anywhere else that may show there passage to oz .
